During my 13 years as a military spouse, I have moved seven times. I’m familiar with the house-hunting process, and pouring over MLS listings before even arriving in a new town.

I love storytelling, and helping newcomers adjust to–and enjoy living in Minot. 

Hi, I’m Amy.

I’m a wife, mom, military spouse, mental health advocate, real estate/old house lover, and Midwest + Minot enthusiast.

Nearly ten years ago, I broke out of a lifelong cycle of depression and anxiety–one that nearly ended in suicide. Since then, I’ve become an expert at cultivating positive mindset, maintaining mental wellness, and flipping the narrative on negativity.

This ability to tell the right story is crucial in all aspects of life–from personal wellness, to business.

When I moved back to Minot in 2019, I began a passion project–using social media to combat the negative attitudes and preconceived notions about moving to the Magic City (especially for military assignments.) Since then I’ve made hundreds of connections, and garnered a reputation as Minot’s BFF, and unofficial biggest fan. Essentially, I “sell” people on Minot. Countless individuals have reached out for recommendations or to thank me for sharing the good about living in North Dakota.

Telling the right story, seeing the right angle.

In 2020–just for fun–I began using my uncanny ability to put a sunny spin on things to sell unwanted items on Facebook Marketplace. I discovered nearly anything can be sold with the right mix of emphasis on benefit, entertaining prose, and enthusiasm.

It’s all about choosing to see even mundane things from a new, refreshing angle.

Finding the right angle has become second nature to me. Whether it’s reframing thoughts surrounding a challenging circumstance, or crafting the perfect description of a property or product–I can find the most constructive narrative, and the words to articulate it.

This is be particularly useful for helping realtors + businesses connect with the ideal consumer, and helping people find the goods + services they need.

That’s why I started Amy Allender Copywriting. To help people find what they need. To help businesses serve people. To help our community thrive.

Finding an uplifting narrative, even in boring or challenging circumstances has become second nature. 

My qualifications:

I’ve spent 13+ years as a military spouse. This has given me the ability to empathize with newcomers, make confident + quick decisions, and be flexible + ready for unforeseen challenges.

Since overcoming major depressive + anxiety disorders, I have become fascinated by psychology and mindset. What I’ve learned has produced the ability to stay in front of needs, understand the decision-making process, and reframe possible objections before they arise.

Additionally I have:

  • BS Telecommunications (focus on broadcast journalism) from Ball State University
  • Previously owned photography + video + design business providing for commercial and nonprofit clients.
  • Completed Level I &II Lay Counseling Courses at Christian Life Ministries
  • Extensive experience in ministerial leadership

I want you to have the absolute best experience possible, and the most effective results. That’s why each project will always start with a free consultation so we can get to know each other and discover if I’m the right fit for you.

Initial contact

Before we get too serious, we’ll meet (either in person or virtually) to decide if I’m the right person for your job.

Strategy call or meet up

Once we’ve determined to work together, we’ll discuss your project in depth. I’ll get to know you, your business, and what sets you apart. While informative, this should also feel very comfortable, like coffee with a friend. We’ll hash out all the details, including exactly what you can expect from me.

First draft

After fully understanding your needs, I’ll begin work on the first draft. Depending on the scope of project, research required, or time constraints this will take 2-10 days. All expectations for drafting will be laid out in our strategy meeting.

Revisions + Completion

After submitting a draft to you, I allow for three rounds of revisions (one heavy, two light) as we fine tune your project. To best serve your needs, the revision window is limited to 10 days after receiving a first draft.

The ultimate goal is to offer you something incredibly effective, but also something you love. I’ll offer input, but you will have the final say in the finished product.
