Put my experience to work for your people. Empower them to live joyfully, discover contentment, and thrive–no matter the circumstances.
WORKPLACE
The global economy loses $1 trillion annually in productivity due to depression and anxiety disorders. This does not account for profits lost to employee burnout, loss of job satisfaction, or frequent turnover.
Mental health is a crucial component to a company’s diversity, and inclusion strategy. By harnessing positive narrative and mindset, stigma in the workplace can be transformed into strength. When employees are empowered to view their positions as roles with dignity and purpose, quality of work and life improve for all.
Employers will be equipped to communicate a narrative of value and meaning to their employees—leading to greater PRODUCTIVIY, PROFITABILITY, and increased employee RETENTION.
Staff will be equipped to take control of their mindset + mental health, so they are free to see purpose in their position and passion for the work they do.
PARENTS
I help parents improve their own mindset so they are able to show up for their families. When parents sharpen their ability to control the narrative of their days, they better equipped to make choices, enjoy their role as “mom” or “dad,” and foster an atmosphere of calm+contentment in the home.
When parents are confident in their mental health, a beautiful ripple effect takes place. Children have greater emotional intelligence and are able to meet challenges with a clear head and critical thinking. Families are more empathetic, and graceful. Homes are more peaceful. Cycles of negativity are broken, minds become resilient.
SCHOOLS
In December 2021 the U.S. Surgeon General issued an advisory to “highlight the urgent need to address the nation’s youth mental health crisis.” (Current statistics indicate a 40% increase in individuals 10-24 years old experiencing symptoms of depression and a 57% increase in suicide rates over the last decade.) These numbers are climbing annually.
More than ever, students and faculty need to be equipped to talk about mental health, and know there is hope for those hurting.
I equip students and faculty to have meaningful conversations about mental health, and empower them to advocate for themselves and each other. Students will be empowered, knowing that a growth mindset can be learned, and is something they can control in a world that is often unpredictable.
CHURCH
American pews are filled with individuals suffering the anguish of depression and anxiety in silence.
Research on the number of Christians suffering from a mental health disorder is lacking, but a 2014 study from Lifeway Research and Focus on the Family found that about 75% of American pastors knew at least one Protestant friend or congregant diagnosed with clinical depression. A 2017 study from the Barna group found that non-Christians were twice as likely as practicing Christians to seek professional help for mental health. The study concluded this number reflects the heavy stigma within the Christian community surrounding professional mental health treatment.
It’s time for these dark topics to be brought into the light of Christ. I help Christians navigat the intersection of mental health and faith with the truth of Scripture as a guide. I help Christians take their thought life captive in the name of Christ (2 Cor 10:5), renew their minds (Rom 12:2), and live in the victory of Christ, even on this side of eternity.
MILITARY + MINOT
Research on military spouses experiencing a mental illness is young. Current numbers estimate between 50-70,000 military spouses experience a mental health disorder in a given year. However, these numbers may be low due to underreporting, stigma and fear that seeking help would negatively impact their spouse’s career.
I empower members of the military community, particularly fellow milspouses, to take control of their narrative, so they can maintain a positive outlook even in difficult, or uncontrolable circumstances. The inspiration and actionable steps I offer will equip military members and spouses to better advocate for mental health, maintain mental resilience, and find contentment so they can thrive in any duty station.
It’s long been said Minot, AFB is one of the worst assignments in the US military. I disagree! I gladly act as a welcome wagon for anyone moving to Minot. By sharing my experience, and offering tips on maintaining a positive mindset, I help new families discover a life they love in the great, white north.
